We ran this Open Stake on Thursday 17th January 2013 in the surrounding woodland of Lough Cutra Castle by very kind permission of Suzie Gwynn – Jones, Mr. Simon Proben (Gamekeeper) & Mr. Chris Nicholson (Estate Manager).
Judges for the day were Willie Megaughin (A) & Paul Carragher (B). The Steward of the Beat Paul O’Brien brought us to good testing ground for spaniels, but the birds at this time of the year had become fairly wary and had for the most part no intention of being caught up to and therefore the dogs were unable to show themselves to the best of their ability.
After some deliberation the Judges came up with a Winner. Massbrook Petfood were our usual sponsors and we are extremely grateful to them for the support they give us throughout each year.
The Hon. Secretary acknowledged how well supported the trial had been by both competitors and spectators and he thanked everybody who gave up their time on a weekday to help out on the day. He also highlighted how grateful the Club was to Willie Meghaughin who stood in to Judge at short notice.
